Over the last couple of weeks, Fernwood Parish Council has met with Welcome Break and Allison Homes regarding their developments in the parish of Fernwood.

Allison Homes - this developer is hoping to see their first new home occupation in the autumn of this year. They have been working on a roundabout which will lead into their site from the B6326. So far the work they have done has mainly been within their site but they are getting ready to start the works on the half of the roundabout which connects with the B6326 so this will require some traffic management on the road just after Hollowdyke Lane. Exact dates are not confirmed yet but as soon as we know we will try and pass on this information. They also confirmed that water is no longer being collected from Phoenix Lane.

Welcome Break - confirmed that the steelwork is taking shape and all being well they hope to start doing internal fittings during week commencing the 24th of June. This developer needs to do roadworks on the B6326 (to widen the road). Once again, they were unable to give us exact dates, but they did confirm they are still on target to open the service station at the end of September.

The Parish Council asked both developers to be mindful of each others’ work and the need to keep disruption to a minimum, particularly at peak times. Welcome Break will be using the traffic management company that they used previously so they are aware of traffic patterns.

Future meetings are booked with all developers so we can try and keep residents informed as much as possible about their plans.

Finally, we are awaiting improved directional signage for construction traffic (informing the traffic to use Hollowdyke Lane and not come through central Fernwood). Barratt David Wilson Homes are waiting for approval of their plans for the signage. The Parish Council has asked for an update on this recently and we are aware that N&SDC are chasing responses to the developer’s proposal.

If you have any queries about the developments, please do not hesitate to contact the Parish Council by emailing [email protected]
